We at The Orpheum love live theatre, but we also appreciate a good film! With Halloween just around the corner, this mix of classic and modern horror films are sure to put us all in the spooky spirit. We are so excited to once again be doing our Orpheum After Dark Fright Film Fest so come by the Orpheum Theatre every Friday of October to enjoy some scary movies! AND as a new part of our Orpheum After Dark Series, we are including a KID’S FEATURE movie!
Some movies in this series may not be appropriate for all ages, so viewers beware.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a cult classic musical-movie that spoofs old sci-fi and horror flicks, with a ridiculous plotline and hilariously campy cast of characters. It’s unbridled fun to watch, and even more fun to experience at a public screening. The movie was not a great success when it released in 1975, however it gathered a cult following, and many fans began to dress as their favorite characters from the film, shout callbacks at the screen, and bring their own props to interact with one another during the movie! The RHPS still has a huge following, with midnight screenings all over the world annually.
It is NORMAL and EXPECTED that audience members yell at the screen during the movie, shout things like ‘slut’ and ‘asshole’ at Brad and Janet, and more wonderfullly silly and profane things. We want everyone to have a great time, so if these sorts of interruptions and outbursts trigger or bother you, you may want to reconsider attending the event.

We at The Orpheum love live theatre, but we also appreciate a good film! And seeing that the theatre was a movie house for a number of years, it seems fitting to have screenings at the theatre as a throwback to days gone by. That’s where THROWBACK THURSDAYS comes in: The Orpheum’s FREE summer series that shows Throwback classics that will remind you of your childhood. TBTs are a great way to get out of the heat during the summer and do something fun with friends or family!
